Your Story is Part of Ours:Celebrating 20 Years of Centering in Joy and Purpose
Pictured above: What a party! Thank you to all who came out to kick off FSP's anniversary year celebrations with a gathering in honor of Jonathan Ewell's 20th year. More about future festivities for the 2026-2027 school year to come soon!
For twenty years, Friends School of Portland has been shaped by so many friends. We're gathering those stories - moments big and small - as part of our anniversary year.
A small steering committee met frequently over the course of this school year to envision how to celebrate this milestone. Early on, preschool teacher, Jonathan Ewell, thought that Otto Wolyniec '16 might be able to create the perfect design -- a visual logo to help us acknowledge the festivities that we have planned. During his time at FSP, Jonathan and Otto collaborated weekly. Jonathan shared what the assembly of the week would be and Otto would draw a sign to hang up.
At first pass, we realized that our ideas did not have the joy and the purpose that we hoped for. After a few iterations and a few more FSP alums thinking about what might be part of this design... this design emerged!
We are thrilled to have kicked off our 20th year celebrations gathering in honor of Jonathan Ewells' 20th year! This coming school year, we look forward to inviting friends to celebrate with us.
Hold the date for a special Pinwheels for Peace afternoon event on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
